July Turns to August: A recap & look forward

Debtbusting month one is officially over.

I underestimated the amount of work I needed to do before I launched my lookbook, so I got a late start on my money-making scheme in July. I fell short of my goal for month one, but I'm not discouraged.  I know some months will be successful and others will be less-so.
Since my lookbook kick-off was so belated, I will be continue to promote my mini line and add new pieces throughout the month of August. Also, because I have put myself out there, a few other opportunities have come my way.  It's important for me to listen to what's naturally happening instead of trying to force an unrelated money-making theme. So...

My debtbusting theme for Month 2 is Open Doors

I love this quote:
"Tell the universe what you want, and it conspires in your favor."
-guy I met at a bar*

Another way to say it is:
"Leap, and the net will appear."
                         - John Burroughs

If we figure out what we want and we start walking toward it, or even just talking about it, synchronicity will kick in. Synchronicity is defined as "the simultaneous occurrence of events that appear significantly related but have no discernible casual connection."** In my case, opportunities to make money have started appearing out of the woodwork.

I was listening to a Dave Ramsey cassette tape*** on my way to work last week, and amidst all his talk about taking a second job and budgeting every penny, he said something that caught me off guard: PRAYER is one of the most important steps in getting out of debt.  It was a refreshing reminder that the Lord is the one with all the wealth, and if I ask, I may be surprised by what I receive.  Not only that, if I want guidance in how to do this most affectively, I need to go to Him.
Then a few days later I ran onto this verse:
"...'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the Lord Almighty."
-Zechariah 4:6
I will continue to work hard, but I am choosing to pray more this month. My efforts will go much further...perhaps infinitely further...if I am sensitive to the Lord's leading.  I would like this blog to be filled with the miraculous stories that come about as I walk through this whole thing in faith.  There, I spoke it...Now, let's watch it happen. :)

*Ok, someone else probably said it before him, but he was the wise sage who delivered it to me.
**Oxford Dictionary. If you want to read more about this concept, I HIGHLY recommend The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron.
***It was actually a CD, but the only way I have to listen to CDs these days is in my car...my computer does not even have a CD drive...so I like to speak of them as ancient relics.

  1. I love your blog TQ! Keep up the good work! I just started reading the Artist's Way for the bagillionth time and have noticed a stream of synchronicity this week- you never know where it might come from. For example, I really wanted some new work out pants and a lululemon work out shirt to reward my workout habit- and my friend gave me both, out of the blue, saying God told her to. Then, I really was thinking about doing some more paintings on sheet music and a friend said she had a pile of music sheets to give me. I also acquired roller skates, a novel, vitamins, and a free massage all in one week. Practice saying yes! God supplies all of our needs. "He makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to stand on the heights." Psalm 18:33
